Autumn with Bright Moon Botanicals

The golden days of September are upon us and as the evenings cool a sense of relief comes after the hot days of summer. Putting on a cosy sweater for the first time and making yourself a cup of evening chamomile tea are welcome treats that give us a hint of the cooler weather to come. This is a time of ripening, elder berries await harvesting to be made into syrup and soon it will be time to start harvesting roots for medicine.

Events to look forward to this fall:

Join me as I offer an ongoing workshop series through Lush Valley in the Comox Valley.

“Herbal Medicine Through the Seasons”
~In this hands-on herbal workshop series with community/ clinical herbalist Philippa Joly, participants will learn to ID and harvest local wild and garden plants, get to know their healing properties and learn to make medicine from them.
You will create your own Materia Medica, learn how to make teas, tinctures, salves and other herbal preparations, practice ethical harvesting and wild crafting skills and take home medicine that can be safely used by friends and family. You can expect to get your hands dirty, spend time learning about the plants from the plants themselves, learn about plants which help with a range of common ailments and have fun with your classmates. This will be a 10 month series of once a month classes where participants will compile their own Materia Medica over the course of the 10 classes, including a list of recipes and medicine making techniques. Registrants for all of the first 9 classes will receive the 10th class free. Best taken as a whole course, but options to sign up for single classes. Age 14+, classes run once a month.
